Ramadan 2027 Guide: Fasting Times, Iftar Dua, Ramadan Greetings

Ramadan 2027 is 1448 AH, the ninth month. On the Umm al-Qura civil calendar the first fast falls on Monday 8 February; a missed crescent moves it a day. Eid follows the Shawwal moon, 9 or 10 March.

This page is not a fatwa board. Turkey waits on Diyanet; other countries wait on a hilal committee or the mosque you actually pray in. Times are local — suhoor ends at Fajr, iftar is Maghrib.

Expected Ramadan 2027 start dates

The crescent is sought on the evening of 7 February. Calculation communities often fast on the 8th; local-sighting communities often wait for the 9th. Bodies listed below follow how they usually decide — 2027 announcements are not out yet.

Laylat al-Qadr and Eid al-Fitr 2027

The Night of Power sits in the last ten nights. Many mark the 27th; the hadith does not lock one date. The 27th below follows when that region starts the fast.

Special note: The 27th-night date is an estimate, not a ruling. Seek the odd nights of the last ten (21, 23, 25, 27, 29). If you begin on 8 February those evenings run 27 February–8 March. Put iʿtikaf and extra prayer in that window.

What is Ramadan?

The ninth month of the lunar calendar. About two billion Muslims keep it with fasting, prayer, Qur’an and neighbours. It is the month of the first revelation; the obligatory fast belongs to it.

The fast runs from Fajr to Maghrib: no food, drink, or marital relations in daylight. Hunger is the method. Taqwa, restraint, and remembering people who do not choose when they eat — that is the aim.

Breaking the fast (iftar dua)

Maghrib ends the day. Dates and water are the Sunnah opening. The dua is gratitude, not a gate — wait for the adhan, then eat. A wording used in many homes:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ أَفْطَرْتُ

Allāhumma innī laka ṣumtu wa bika āmantu wa ʿalā rizqika afṭartu.

Translation: O Allah, I fasted for You, I believe in You, and I break my fast with Your provision.
