1 Ramadan 1451

Ramadan (start)

Ramadan

The ninth month. The Qur’an was first sent down in it. Adult Muslims who are able fast from Fajr to Maghrib: no food, drink, or marital relations in the daylight. The name comes from a root of heat and burning away — sins, ego, wasted hours.

How the month moves

Because the Hijri year is about eleven days shorter, Ramadan walks through every season in a lifetime. No country is stuck with the longest fast forever. Suhoor is Fajr; Iftar is Maghrib. Follow your city page for those clocks, and your mosque for the hilal.

Ramadan (start) 2030 in Turkey

In Turkey, Ramadan (start) in 2030 is expected on Saturday, 5 January 2030 (1 Ramadan 1451). This uses the Umm al-Qura calculation. Moon sighting can shift a day — follow Diyanet and your local mosque.

The Islamic Calendar (Arabic Calendar)

The Hijri calendar: a lunar system

The Islamic calendar (Hijri, Arabic lunar calendar) follows the moon; the Gregorian year follows the sun. It starts from the Hijrah. A month opens when the new crescent is sighted. Dates on this 2030 grid are estimates — moon sighting can move a day.

Structure and months

Twelve months, about 354–355 days: Muharram, Safar, Rabiʿ al-awwal, Rabiʿ al-thani, Jumada al-ula, Jumada al-akhirah, Rajab, Shaʿban, Ramadan, Shawwal, Dhul-Qaʿdah, Dhul-Hijjah. Namaz Buddy puts Gregorian and Hijri on the same cell. The converter uses that engine.

Sacred months

Four months are sacred: Dhul-Qaʿdah, Dhul-Hijjah and Muharram in a row, then Rajab. They are named in Bukhari (3197). The old rule was to halt war; today they are still marked for worship and travel.

Important days and Turkey
